Turns out I don't like the color of this yarn that much in my room. It's oddly cool, almost green. 1 row of sc'd beige fleck for the border. I wanted to do that border that is basically 3dc squares attached at the corner (if this technique has a name, I don't know it :-( ) but the beige yarn was older/thinner so it looked weird. Plus I'm 95% sure that I didn't have enough.
There's a mismatched dye lot stripe towards one of the corners, pretty noticeable laid flat. This project took about 9 skeins of yarn total, and all but half of one was bought brand new - the half skein I used (and created that light stripe) was a "my grandma used some of this and I knew you were looking for this color of yarn" gift. I actually had one full, new skein (minus 3 squares worth lol) after finishing, but I also didn't notice the stripe until then. I don't really care, it's much less noticeable in my room's lighting vs the lighting of the room I first saw it.
The blanket keeps me warm at night; so it does it's job, and thats all I can ask for.
Lessons Learned: Even a yarn color like this with almost no pigment can have inconsistencies in dye lots, especially after years and years.
